February 14, 2009
We had a great turn out for Valentines Day. We had 28 cars, trucks and bikes and approximately 80 people. Minutes from January meeting were read and accepted by those present. Treasurer reported that the club had 239.00 in the account for the month of January and requested a 40.00 refund to her for the food used at the Mental Health Valentine Party. A motion was made and accepted to reimburse her. Old business was discussed including and overview of the area planning meeting and our event at Frosty Front as well as our party at the Center. New business included selecting a new logo for the club. It was voted on and accepted (more to follow). We discussed the Marion County Domestic Violence Task Force Winfield Walk a Mile for a Child in April. The Rebel Cruisers will be hosting a car/bike show with the task force purchasing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place plaques for both the cars and the bikes. All money raised and collected will be donated to Safeplace. A discussion on ordering t-shirts in the near future members understand we need to order a minimum of 50 shirts. This has been tabled until a logo is designed. The group then voted on profiling a member each month. The first member to be featured will be Joe Breeden.
Next we discussed a monthly newsletter that will be e-mailed to everyone. We discussed mailing it to the members without e-mail at a cost of $6.00 per year. Members must sign up for that option. The members decided that our second event for February will be to attend the Fulton Fun Day. Sherry & Joe Breeden shall be the cruise leaders for that event. We also voted on the webpage becoming a dot.com so the new web address is www.nwalrc.com please visit us.
March cruise-in will be at Frosty Front in Guin on March 14th 3pm. A special thanks to Joe Breeden for the use of his garage, Roger of Frosty Front for his donation of door prizes, Winfield Auto Zone for their donation of door prizes. Twila, Wayne, Sherry, Devin, Vicki, David, Heather and all the others that have shown us there out pouring of support.

Joe Breeden’s Garage
Our first cruise and meeting was held on January 10th, 2009 @ Joe Breeden’s Garage. We had a great turn out of 35 cars and close to 70 people. A short meeting was conducted the vote was unanimous that the new club name would be the N.W. Alabama Rebel Cruisers. It was also voted on that the cruise-ins would continue to be on the 2nd Saturday of the month and that they would run 3-6pm until the weather warms up, meetings will be at 4pm during the cruise-in. It was agreed upon that the members would rotate fixing food for the cruise-ins. The vote then went to continue the 50/50 with 50% of the money collected going to the winner, 25% to club expenses and 25% going to charity. The subject of dues was discussed and the decision was that there would be no dues until 1/10/10 and then it would be voted on to charge a minimal amount for a family membership. At this time it was discussed that if we did not charge due then we would have to request donations for events that we decide to have the members present agreed that for the first year we would donate money for items needed. A vote was held and the following people were elected into office for a term of one year.
President: Mike Lyons
Vice-President: Wayne Sisty
Secretary: Twila Dotson
Treasurer: Dotty Lyons
These individuals agreed to take their position for one year. Mayor Segraves attended the cruise and it was discussed to rotate the cruise locations between Winfield & Guin. Mayor Segraves reported that the armory would be available for our use.
The members present agreed to have the cruise-in at Frosty Front on January 24th. Wayne spoke to the owner and he is going to try and have something special for the cruisers. We plan on being there around 2pm. On January 31st Tupelo Museum is having its annual meeting and several members will be attending to bring information back on regional events, in February we plan on continuing the support of the Mental Health Center by hosting a Valentine Party on Friday the 13th.
We had about ten door prizes and requested members to please help us to collect door prizes for future events. Members donated towards start up expenses and a total of 107.00 was collected and given to Dotty for start up funds.
The turn out and support for the new N W Alabama Rebel Cruisers was great and we hope it will continue. We hope to see everyone out to the upcoming events and want to thank everyone who participated in this first event. A special thanks to Joe & Sherry Breeden for their generosity and thank you to all the wonderful members who showed their support.
